How to solve the problem of stage light malfunction

Moogle News 2025-06-09
stage light is a new type of lighting fixture in stage lights, which has caused a sensation in the market since its launch in recent years. Due to its small angle of light emission, it is more focused. So it can produce rich stage designs. Another advantage is that the lighting fixtures are small and the scanning speed is faster, which can make the stage more lively.

A stage light is a relatively precise device that integrates electronics, mechanics, and optics, and has high requirements for the environment, transportation, and use, resulting in a high failure rate. Here, based on the fault phenomenon, we will analyze the possible causes for the reference of relevant personnel.

Beam lights and our traditional computer lights still have some differences in construction details. The first is the bulb circuit: Traditional computer lights used to use an inductive ballast and trigger for the bulb circuit, but beam lights generally use electronic ballasts (also known as lighters) and do not require triggers. There is an additional PFC (AC220V to DC380V) because the input terminal of the ballast is 380V DC. The second is the control part: the stage light is basically transformed by a switching power supply, which communicates with traditional inductive transformers. Because a switch mode power supply is used, the stability of the control circuit in the later stage is greatly enhanced. Due to the high technical difficulty of switch mode power supplies, the failure rate is slightly higher than that of inductive transformers. Because a switch power supply is used, the stage light is not affected by changes in external voltage and can be input at full voltage (110V-240V), eliminating the problem of unstable voltage.

Regarding some common faults, the analysis is as follows:

No response upon startup

1. Whether the power supply is normal and whether the power cord of the lamp is disconnected;

2. Is the fuse of the lighting fixture burnt out;

3. Does the switch power supply of the lighting fixture have an output voltage.

Power on does not light up bubbles

1. Firstly, assess the quality of the light bulb by checking whether the bulb core contacts are burnt out and whether the bulb core itself is broken.

2. When the lighting fixture is in a bubble state, measure whether the voltage output of the motherboard bubble is normal. The normal voltage is usually 10-12 volts.

3. If the above two points are correct, measure whether there is an AC voltage output of about 380V at the PFC output (input terminal of the lamp). If there is an output, it indicates that the PFC is good, which can directly determine whether there is a problem with the lamp.

After working for a period of time, the light fixture automatically resets

1. The output voltage of the switching power supply is unstable;

2. Loose wires or insufficient compression at the crimping points in the circuit result in poor contact, leading to automatic reset.

The light bulb automatically extinguishes

1. The light bulb goes out and automatically lights up again after a period of time. Check if the cooling system is working properly. If the cooling system malfunctions, it will cause the temperature inside the lamp to be too high, and the temperature control switch will automatically trip to ensure the safe use of the lamp. When the electronic lighting is turned off, the lamp will automatically turn on again when the temperature of the lamp body decreases.

2. After the light bulb is extinguished, it cannot automatically light up: due to the problem of the light bulb itself, the surface of the bulb sphere appears white and the interior appears black. After a period of time, the light bulb will also experience the phenomenon of extinguishing (the end of its lifespan).

3. The lamp will also have automatic protection for extinguishing the cannon even if there is no control signal for a long time. After the signal is turned on, it will automatically light up.

Pattern disk, color disk, prism, and focusing are stuck, shaking, and out of step

1. Stuck is usually caused by mechanical reasons, and at this time, the phenomenon of color chip jamming may occur, such as deformation of the pattern disc, color disc, loosening and falling off of screws in fixed components, and popping of the compression spring that fixes the pattern.

2. Shaking and Out of Step: Loose or detached screws, burnt chips in the channels on the motherboard, poor contact of motor wires, skin breakage and short circuit to ground, motor itself problems.

Horizontal and vertical (X/Y axis) out of step, not positioned

1. Excessive dust on the lotus root causes the infrared light to be unable to be controlled properly;

2. The light lotus plate is damaged, and the distance between the light lotus discs is not adjusted properly (when troubleshooting, the light lotus disc should be in the middle of the light lotus disc and there should be no scraping, bumping, or scraping);
